Frequently asked questions …
Q: How do I worship now?
A: You may worship in person on Sundays at 10 am or you may enjoy a recording of that service posted on You Tube every week. The service has an overall worship theme, community prayers, a message from the pastor and live and/or recorded music.
Q: When do you celebrate Communion?
A: Communion is celebrated the first Sunday each month.
Q: What steps are being taken to protect visitors from Covid 19 at Woodridge UCC?
A: Many steps have been taken to assure safety of all. Visitors will have the option of in-person or online services. In person attendance requires a mask to be worn, adherence to social distancing, and above all, we request that you not attend if you are not feeling well for any reason or have been exposed to someone who may have the virus or has symptoms. We have taken measures to be sure the sanctuary has been sanitized before and after each service and the pews have been spaced appropriately to comply with social distancing.
Q: Who worships at Woodridge?
A: We are a wonderful mix of ages and religious backgrounds who enjoy taking time out of our busy weeks to worship and thank God for all the blessings we receive. We are a very open church to all of God’s people. Elsewhere on our website, you can read our “open and affirming statement” that proclaims our commitment to an inclusive welcome.
Q: What do you offer for children and youth?
A: In-person Sunday school classes have resumed. Current details may be found on our “Christian Education” home page tab.
Q: Is helping others an important part of your church?
A: Yes, although we love being together as a community, we have a strong commitment to reaching out to our neighbors through local food pantries, homeless ministries and support for former inmates in the prison system. We are also committed to ecumenical and interfaith activities and worship through our denomination and local associations.
Q: What denomination are you?
A: We are part of the United Church of Christ (UCC) which is a Protestant denomination in the Congregational tradition of New England. We have been a congregation for over 70 years and have a strong commitment to hospitality towards all people and an ecumenical spirit that seeks justice for all.
Q: How do I get there and where do I park?
A: Woodridge is located across Reservoir Avenue and just north of the Garden City Shopping Center, near Harmony Masonic Lodge and Chelo’s Restaurant on Reservoir Ave. (R.I. Route 2). Enter the sanctuary from Woodridge Road. A handicapped-accessible rest room is available.
